3rd Grade – Music Software License. The purchase of a site license to add computer technology to the Third Grade music program will allow a hands-on approach to creating music through the use of technology. This technology creates a layering effect and allows the completed project to be printed out and used in the general music classroom in many ways.
4th Grade – AlphaSmart NEO. The purchase of 4 new AlphaSmart NEOs (a keyboarding device like a laptop computer, but strictly for word processing) for the Fourth Grade will provide a supplemental resource for students who struggle to handwrite their ideas. These tools will be used throughout the day by a variety of students. They are a less expensive, more basic solution than sending students to use a computer lab to express their ideas. This technology helps struggling students to be less dependent on teachers during writing activities.
4th Grade – Composting and Recycling Field Trip. This field trip takes the Fourth Grade to both the Tompkins County Recycling Center then to the Cayuga Composting business. The purpose of this trip is to give students a visual picture and hands-on learning experience about what happens to materials when they are recycled or composted.
5th Grade - Electricity Project. Jim Hardesty provides a program for Fifth Grade students about electricity using early experiments that helped develop the use of electricity throughout history.
High School - Seido Karate Field. 18 students (one 5th grader, 17 9-12 graders) will travel to New York City to experience Seido Karate training at Honbu, the official Seido Karate dojo (the headquarters), and will have the opportunity to meet and discuss Seido Karate with the founder of the style. They will also visit the Natural History Museum.
